Grace, get dressed up: Capcom has banned making naked mods for Resident Evil and its other series
Capcom is serious about blocking naked mods in its games. Youtuber GrizzoUK (216,000 subscribers) received a message from the studio demanding that about a thousand videos on this topic be deleted, otherwise the blogger's channel may be blocked.
There are many videos on the GrizzoUK channel in which the author demonstrates gameplay using mods that undress the characters. Recently, most of the videos have been dedicated to Resident Evil Requiem, and sometimes the blogger pays attention to Stellar Blade.
In their message, Capcom representatives noted that such use of their games is prohibited. The studio also mentioned copyright and set a deadline: all videos must be deleted by April 21. Capcom hopes to resolve the issue peacefully, but is ready to take action regarding individual videos and the entire channel.
GrizzoUK has already announced that he will stop making mods for Resident Evil. At the same time, he stressed that he would contact his brother, who works as a lawyer in New York, in search of protection.
On social media, some gamers have released posts in support of the blogger.
«Guys livelihood was deleted, his freedom of speech & expression silenced. He needs to Sue Capcom to hell & back».
At the same time, quite a lot of users sided with Capcom. They explained this by saying that naked mods don't do games any good.
«Well to be honest Spicy mods are cringe. From what I understand, they nuked him for oversexualization of their character. Which is fine imo. They should do it with other creators too».
«I don't like mods, because for hyper unrealistic body... I don't use mods at all. Is mo reason for that. Play the game as it is».
By the way, naked mods are regularly released for other games. For example, at the end of March, an enthusiast completely stripped Damiane from Crimson Desert.
And how do you feel about such modifications? Should studios be so overreacting in cases like this?
