Pragmata cracked and leaked a day before release — hackers didn’t let Capcom enjoy the momentum

On the eve of its official launch, Pragmata has already appeared online — the game was cracked by the DenuvOwO group, known for bypassing Denuvo protection. This happened just a day before the official release on April 17 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

A Denuvo crack before release is rare. Pirated versions usually appear weeks or even months after launch, but this year such cases have become more frequent. In Pragmata’s case, the protection didn’t even last until release day — the game is already circulating on unofficial platforms.

Pragmata is a sci-fi action game from Capcom and the studio’s first original IP in eight years. Players control two characters at once: soldier Hugh and android girl Diana, who are trying to escape a lunar research station taken over by a hostile AI called IDUS. Diana hacks enemy systems to expose weak points, while Hugh finishes them off with gunfire. The press reception has been strong: critics praise the real-time hacking mechanics and the chemistry between the characters, while noting drawbacks like a predictable story and repetitive missions.

For Capcom, the timing is especially unfortunate: Pragmata launched with strong reviews — 86 on Metacritic and 88 on OpenCritic — and had already entered the top 5 best-selling games on Steam before release. The leak hit at the exact moment the game was poised for a major старт. It’s unlikely to significantly impact the final outcome, but the growing pace of piracy is notable: Resident Evil Requiem was fully cracked without a hypervisor just a month and a half after launch, and the “siege” of Doom: The Dark Ages ended with its defenses completely broken. Even the film industry is seeing similar trends — a new Avatar animated movie has leaked, while some premieres are leaking globally on day one — something that rarely happened before.
