Starfield topped the list of best-selling games of the week — the failed PS5 version didn't hinder its success
It looks like the best time ever for Starfield. Despite the criticism of the PS5 version, the space action became the best-selling game in the United States for the first time in almost three years.
The PS5 version of Starfield was released two weeks ago. This happened almost three years after the release of the game on PC and Xbox Series X/S. Among other things, Bethesda has introduced the Free Lanes update and the storyline addition Terran Armada.
Sony console owners quickly called Starfield unplayable. Many gamers complained about crashes, freezes, and save issues. There are branches on Reddit with messages about refunds for the game.
None of this affected the overall success of the game. Renowned analyst Mat Piscatella reported that Starfield turned out to be the best-selling game of the week in terms of combined physical and digital sales in the United States. We are talking about the week that ended on April 11th.
Such indicators have been achieved for the first time in almost three years. Last time, Starfield topped the weekly ranking of the best-selling games in the United States on September 2, 2023.
There will probably be even more sales of the space game from Bethesda soon. Recently, the Taiwanese rating commission officially assigned an age rating to the Starfield version for Switch 2. Perhaps the announcement will take place in the near future.
