The owner of the biggest Steam library has spent $750,000 — and you’ll never guess how many games he owns or his favorite
According to SteamDB, there are at least 120 users on Steam with libraries of 20,000+ games. Three of them have crossed the 40,000 mark. But there’s one absolute record holder.
A user named Sonix from Shanghai has built a library of 43,085 games. At current retail prices, it’s worth nearly $750,000 — about the price of an average house in the U.S. The collection was built over 15 years: statistically, that’s around seven new games a day, every day, without breaks.
Now the obvious question: what’s his favorite game? Not a rare AAA exclusive, not a cult indie hit. It’s Alien Swarm — a free co-op shooter from Valve released in 2010. He’s logged 551 hours in it and unlocked every achievement. Out of 43,000 games — that’s the one.
For context: the user ranked 120th by library size, Cheltan, owns about 20,005 games — and has played roughly 8,700 of them. Sonix hasn’t shared his playtime stats, but it’s not hard to guess the pattern.
What do you think — is this collecting, or just a very expensive hobby? And how many games do you have in your library — and how many of them have you barely touched? Share your thoughts in the comments.
