New Saros Gameplay Released — Sony’s Latest Exclusive Earns High Praise
With just days to go before the launch of the sci-fi action game Saros, the game has already received its first reviews from the press—and they’re overwhelmingly positive. A brand-new video has also dropped, showcasing eight minutes of fresh gameplay.
The video highlights the opening moments of the game, showing the protagonist sprinting through labyrinthine corridors, battling enemies, dodging traps, and using an energy shield.
Saros is a dark, sci-fi action title from the creators of Returnal. Players take on the role of Arjun Devraj, a watchman for the Sultari Corporation, as he explores the dangerous and mysterious planet Carcosa and tries to uncover its secrets amid a devastating eclipse.
The game blends fast-paced, bullet-hell-style combat with dodging, parrying, and ability combos, while also featuring a “second chance” system that lets players quickly jump back into the action after death and gradually power up their character with new weapons and upgrades.
The world of Carcosa shifts with every expedition: the eclipse alters the environment, opens up new routes, and distorts everything—living and non-living—adding an unpredictable twist to each run. Between expeditions, players return to a hub area to track progress and interact with their team, whose mental state steadily declines over time.
The atmosphere is further enhanced by detailed audio design, a dark electronic soundtrack, and full DualSense controller support, delivering immersive feedback for both combat and environmental changes.
Previously, the developers also revealed how Saros will look on PlayStation 5 Pro. The game is set to launch on April 30.
Are you excited for Saros? Does the new gameplay live up to your expectations for the “spiritual successor” to Returnal?
