Chinese soulslike Wuchang: Fallen Feathers will be saved by the Italians — the game was bought from the dying Lingze studio

It seems that the soul‑like action game Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has a chance to survive, even after the actual closure of Chengdu Lingze Technology studio, which developed the game. The intellectual property rights were purchased by Digital Bros, the parent company of 505 Games.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers was released last summer. This is a hardcore action game inspired by the Dark Souls series. The plot takes place in ancient China. While the empire is plagued by civil strife, a mysterious malady is spawning nightmarish monsters. Pirate and the storm of the seas Wuchang, who has lost her memory, encounters the ghosts of the past and tries to survive after contracting a terrible disease.

Things have been going badly for the project lately. The director and producer of the game, Xia Siyuan, has already been fired, and the rest of the staff has been offered to outsource. When many refused, mass layoffs began.

At the same time, the developers managed to prepare a significant part of the material for the release of add-ons. Fans assumed that this content would never be released, but the Italian studio Digital Bros. intervened. By purchasing the rights, the company will be able to make decisions regarding the further development of the game.

The agreement with Chinese developer Chengdu Lingze Technology cost $4.6 million. The deal gives Digital Bros full ownership rights and allows it to retain all profits earned throughout the game's lifecycle and get rid of any future obligations to pay royalties to the developer.
