Helldivers 2 gets major patch with new biomes, giant enemy, and balance changes

Arrowhead Game Studios has released update 6.2.2 for Helldivers 2. The patch added two new forest biomes, a new enemy variant, and major balance changes for exosuits, enemies, weapons, and stratagems.

The main addition is new planets with dense forests and winding paths. However, taking a peaceful stroll there is unlikely: “according to Super Earth command, signals resembling Bile Titan activity, but significantly larger than usual, have been detected on Gloom-infested planets.”

Exosuits received the most changes. The developers admitted that mechs were breaking too quickly, especially in fights against Automatons, so they increased their main durability pool from 850 to 1600. Now an exosuit is destroyed only when its main durability pool is depleted, rather than because of damage to individual zones.

Arrowhead also rebalanced enemies. Terminids have become more dangerous against vehicles and fortifications, several creatures now deal more damage to durable targets, and Heavy Devastator shields can now be destroyed. Helpful changes for players include a stronger ballistic shield, increased ammo capacity for the FAF-14 Spear, and a buff to the flamethrower turret.

The update also fixed several known issues: city defense events once again correctly appear as controlled by Super Earth, and destroying an airbase control tower with a portable Hellbomb no longer breaks mission progress. The developers also fixed a pile of bugs, including incorrect AI behavior, animation issues, sound effects problems, and much more.

In June, according to the roadmap, Helldivers 2 will receive an update with one new biome, content for the Galactic War, a Warbond, and fixes.

Back in February, it was revealed that players failed the battle for Cyberstan in Helldivers 2. Meanwhile, a film based on the game’s universe is in the works, with director Justin Lin attached to the project.

Is Helldivers 2 still one of the best multiplayer PvE shooters?
