New Game from the Creators of Life Is Strange Launches on PC and Consoles — Aphelion
French studio Don’t Nod, known for Life Is Strange, Vampyr, and Twin Mirror, has released a new game called Aphelion on PC (Steam), PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The project is also available via Xbox Play Anywhere and Game Pass.
Aphelion is a cinematic, third-person sci-fi adventure where astronauts Ariadne and Thomas are separated after the crash of the “Hope-01” mission on the frozen planet Persephone. Set in the near future, with Earth rendered uninhabitable, the two are sent by the European Space Agency to explore a new world, only to find themselves facing a hostile environment, a constantly shifting landscape, and a dangerous, unknown lifeform.
Gameplay centers on the survival of two characters with distinct roles: one explores and solves environmental puzzles, while the other overcomes hazardous terrain using tools like a grappling hook, oxygen gear, and the Pathfinder navigation system.
Special attention is given to traversing challenging terrain with acrobatic elements, as well as stealth, since players must avoid encounters with the pursuing creature. The story unfolds as a personal drama between two long-connected individuals, trying to reunite and uncover the cause of the disaster — all set against the backdrop of a scientific mission and an alien, unstable world.
By the way, we recently published a feature rounding up the best space-themed games on PC — including RPGs, horror, puzzles, and strategy titles.
