Dark Fantasy With a Comic Book Twist — New Steam Release Lets Character Emotions Shape the Story and Gameplay
Magin: The Rat Project Stories, an adventure game developed by The Rat Project and published by Daedalic Entertainment, has officially launched on Steam. To celebrate the release, the developers have dropped a brand new trailer.
The day has finally come to invite you all to step into the world of Magin! It has been a long journey, but the game has now officially launched, and we are really proud of it. Once again, we want to say THANK YOU for all the support you have given us over the years. We hope you have a lot of fun playing our game and would love to hear your feedback.
Magin: The Rat Project Stories is described as a story-driven adventure set in a dark fantasy world, blending exploration, meaningful choices, and deck-building card battles. The game takes place in a grim universe at the crossroads of magic and a budding industrial age, where a mysterious force called Essence is tied to the emotions and inner states of the characters.
Players control two protagonists—a mage-assassin named Elester and a young boy named Tolen—whose abilities and choices shape the course of the story. The game features atmospheric locations to explore and interact with, battles fought through a card system, and a unique Essence mechanic where the characters’ emotions directly impact both gameplay and narrative.
As you progress, your deck evolves and improves, including special double-sided cards that depend on the decisions you make. The game’s visuals embrace a comic book aesthetic, and the story is fully voice-acted.
By the way, a list of the most “wishlisted” games of May on Steam was recently published. We’ve also released an article rounding up the most anticipated games of the year.
