EA is now selling a pre-order for a battle pass — Battlefield 6 is monetizing everything it possibly can
Season 3 of Battlefield 6 launches on May 12 — and Electronic Arts is already taking pre-orders for its battle pass. Yes, really: you can now pay for content that hasn’t been released yet, in a game you’ve already bought.
Here’s how Battlefield 6’s monetization works. There’s a free base pass available to everyone. Then there’s the premium battle pass for 1100 Battlefield Coins (around $10), unlocking 100+ tiers of rewards. And then there’s Battlefield Pro for $25 — which is essentially a battle pass with its own battle pass inside: 25 instant tier skips, exclusive content, and a stronger XP boost. One Steam user summed it up perfectly: “The game has a battle pass. And the battle pass has its own battle pass?”
Pre-orders for Season 3 are already live in-game. Buy now — and most rewards unlock on May 12 when the season begins. The pre-order bonus includes several exclusive cosmetic items that won’t be available later.
As for Season 3 content: reworked versions of classic maps Golmud Railway (from Battlefield 4) and Grand Bazaar (from Battlefield 3), a Battle Royale Solos mode, a ranked mode, and new weapons — including the iconic M16A3 from BF3.
Battlefield 6 launched in October 2025, became the best-selling game of the year in the U.S., and beat Call of Duty in sales for the first time in years. Electronic Arts clearly isn’t planning to slow down.
