Portable consoles are no longer a specific hobby for a small number of fans. Now the success of the game depends on whether it appeared on consoles like the Nintendo Switch 2. Anyway, that's how it worked with Resident Evil Requiem, says project producer Masato Kumazawa.

It is already known that Resident Evil Requiem turned out to be an extremely successful game. It recently sold over seven million copies, becoming the fastest-selling installment in the history of the Capcom series. Moreover, a story DLC may be released soon, which will launch a second wave of sales.

However, success does not always depend on the quality of the game. In any case, this will not necessarily provide the project with record figures. Masato Kumazawa is sure that it's all about porting Resident Evil Requiem correctly.

«I think it was a major advantage that we could offer it in a portable format, which made it easily accessible to people who didn't own a PlayStation 5 or a high-performance PC».

Moreover, the producer believes that the Nintendo console has opened the Resident Evil series to a completely new audience.

«Around the same time this game was released, we also launched the Switch 2 versions of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village, and it seems that quite a few people started by playing Resident Evil 7 first and then moved on to the latest installment, Requiem. It's wonderful to see that people who were interested in the game but didn't have a way to play it have entered the world of Resident Evil thanks to the Switch 2 version».

By the way, hackers recently hacked the PC version of Resident Evil Requiem, which is protected by the Denuvo system. Moreover, we are talking about a full-fledged hacking, and not about bypassing protection using a hypervisor.

What do you think is the main reason for the success of Resident Evil Requiem?
