Valve is shipping “game consoles” to the US — fans are once again hoping for a Steam Machine

After the announcement of a new Steam Controller, fan attention has shifted to Valve’s next hardware moves: import records show large shipments labeled as “game consoles,” and now the community is trying to figure out what exactly is coming.

The discovery was highlighted by insider Brad Lynch, who tracks import data for major tech companies. A similar method proved accurate before: in early April, Valve records listed shipments of “wireless PC controllers,” and shortly after, Valve officially confirmed a new Steam Controller launching on May 4 for $99.

Now, entries dated between April 18 and 23 mention “game consoles.” Formally, that could refer to several Valve devices: restocks of the Steam Deck, early batches of the rumored Steam Frame, or even the long-awaited Steam Machine.

The safest assumption is Steam Deck, as the handheld has faced availability issues since February due to memory and storage shortages. Valve has already acknowledged supply constraints and said it’s working to stabilize production.

Still, the real excitement revolves around Steam Machine. Valve is reportedly still planning to release a new version in 2026, though no exact date has been announced, and development has reportedly been slowed by the same component shortages. Meanwhile, the new Steam Controller is launching separately on May 4 at 10:00 AM PT for $99 and will work across any device that supports Steam or Steam Link.

For now, this isn’t confirmation of an imminent Steam Machine release — just a signal that Valve is indeed shipping some form of “game consoles” into the US. Given the Steam Deck shortages and the company’s broader hardware ambitions, the next few weeks could finally reveal what’s actually coming.
