The Witcher 3 Songs of the Past Expansion Reveal Date Confirmed

CD Projekt RED recently officially announced Songs of the Past, the third story expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We now have confirmation that the upcoming DLC will be showcased at gamescom 2026, taking place in Germany from August 26 to 30.

CD Projekt RED also shared a breakdown of their current workforce. The studio confirmed that 513 developers are now hard at work on The Witcher 4 (Project Polaris), while 163 employees are spun up on Cyberpunk 2 (Project Orion). Meanwhile, The Witcher: Project Sirius has 83 people attached to it, and the studio's new original IP, Project Hadar, is being developed by a team of 24. An additional 173 employees are currently handling localization, QA, analytics, and other shared studio tasks.

The upcoming expansion features Geralt of Rivia embarking on a brand-new, standalone adventure. Rumors online suggest the DLC will serve as a narrative bridge to the next mainline entry, The Witcher 4, which is currently being built on Unreal Engine 5. The expansion is slated for a 2027 release and will launch exclusively on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The developers previously revealed that the PC version's minimum system requirements will be bumped up alongside the DLC's launch.
