Bethesda Game Studios announced a major technical upgrade for Fallout 76, with native versions set to launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 5 Pro later this summer. Ahead of the full release, public testing for these current-gen editions will begin in June and is open to all existing owners of the game.

Players will be able to download the test builds directly from the Xbox and PlayStation digital stores. The new versions target 60 frames per second on all supported current-gen consoles, offering a noticeably smoother experience compared to previous hardware. Bethesda is also promising improved draw distances and enhanced shadow quality, aiming to deliver one of the most significant technical upgrades in Fallout 76's history.

On the visual front, Xbox Series X and PS5 Pro users with compatible displays can look forward to native 4K resolution, while the standard PS5 model will support up to 1440p. Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) will be available on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS5, and PS5 Pro for those with compatible screens, further enhancing visual performance.

Bethesda has not provided a specific release date for the current-gen upgrade, stating that the update will roll out after the June testing period concludes. The company plans to gather player feedback before the official launch later this summer.

Does the lack of 4K support on the standard PS5 affect your excitement for Fallout 76's current-gen upgrade?
