During the State of Play presentation, Sony officially announced Until Dawn 2. The sequel is being developed by Firesprite, one of Sony's first-party studios, while the creators of the original game are not involved in the project.

Until Dawn 2 will feature a standalone story with an entirely new cast of characters. The plot follows a team of ambitious ghost hunters who run a popular paranormal channel. After signing a deal with a major television network, the crew travels to a remote, abandoned tropical island to film the premiere episode of their new show. The sequel will see the return of the psychoanalyst Dr. Hill, with Peter Stormare reprising his iconic role. Additionally, Neil Newbon—best known for his role as Astarion in Baldur's Gate 3—has joined the cast to play one of the main characters.

Here at Firesprite, we took the reins on Until Dawn 2 as our first release since Horizon: Call of the Mountain, where we collaborated with our friends at Guerrilla Games. Like many of you, a bunch of us on the team are massive fans of the original Until Dawn, so getting to build the sequel has been a dream come true. Part of our mission from day one has been honoring that core DNA: character drama, tough choices, and those unforgettable horror moments that made the first game so special.

Until Dawn 2 is being developed by the studio behind the VR adventure Horizon: Call of the Mountain, with the team including former Supermassive Games employees who worked on the original 2015 title. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game is scheduled to launch sometime in 2027 exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
