Funcom has announced the release date for Dune: Awakening on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The survival MMO arrives on consoles on September 22, 2026, and will launch alongside one of the most requested features since release: a full solo mode.

For us, September 22 is more than a console launch. It’s a milestone for a new and improved Dune: Awakening. The best version of the game will be available simultaneously on PC and consoles.

The new mode allows players to complete the entire game alone, without other users appearing on the map, while still retaining access to NPCs and all story content. Players will be able to choose from three survival difficulty levels or customize settings manually.

The solo experience also introduces a persistent world: maps will no longer reset, and player-built structures will remain intact. No online subscription will be required to play.

The solo mode will launch simultaneously across all platforms, including PC. The update also brings the final chapter of the Book One storyline and introduces self-hosted servers on PC. In addition, the game has received Steam Deck Verified status and is available through GeForce Now.

On Xbox, the game will support Game Pass from day one, Xbox Play Anywhere, cross-progression between Xbox and the Microsoft Store ecosystem, and cloud gaming features. Full cross-play between PlayStation, Xbox, and PC will not be available at launch, though Funcom says it remains a possibility for the future.

Pricing is set at $49.99 for the Standard Edition, $69.99 for the Deluxe Edition, and $89.99 for the Ultimate Edition. Pre-orders are already live on both console platforms.

Since its PC launch on June 10, 2025 (with early access beginning June 5), Dune: Awakening has received numerous updates, including new regions, weapons, bosses, and story chapters. The console version will include all of that content from day one.

Solo play was one of the community’s most requested features, but it arrives more than a year after the PC release. Was waiting that long worth it for a fully fledged single-player experience in Dune: Awakening? Let us know in the comments.
