Gears of War: E-Day First Gameplay Revealed

At the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, we finally got our first real look at gameplay for the brutal action title Gears of War: E-Day. Along with the intense footage, the developers revealed the official release date: October 6, 2026.

Gears of War: E-Day serves as a prequel to the very first entry in the franchise, chronicling the start of humanity's catastrophic war against the Locust Horde. Set on the planet Sera 14 years before the events of the original Gears of War, the game captures the initial days of chaos when humanity was caught completely off guard by the subterranean assault. With this title, the developers are returning to the dark, gritty, and terrifying atmosphere of the early games, reframing the Locust not just as standard enemies, but as nightmare monsters from the deep.

Gears of War: E-Day is coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S. Pre-orders are officially live, with two versions available: Standard and Premium. The higher-tier edition includes exclusive cosmetics and 1,000 in-game credits. Additionally, anyone who pre-orders will secure early access to the upcoming open beta and unlock a bonus skin pack.
