Nintendo and FromSoftware have confirmed that their upcoming action game The Duskbloods will receive a closed playtest later this summer. The developers have yet to announce an exact start date, and the game's release window remains unknown.

The Duskbloods takes place in a world on the brink of humanity's extinction. At the center of the story is a mysterious force known as the First Blood, which causes different eras and worlds to converge. Players will take on the role of the Bloodsworn — warriors who have transcended the limits of humanity through supernatural blood-powered abilities.

The game will feature more than a dozen unique characters, each equipped with their own weapons, including firearms, as well as distinct abilities and combat styles. Matches will combine both PvP and PvE elements, with up to eight players competing on a single map.

One of the game's standout features is its role system. For example, the Destined Rival role tasks players with hunting down and defeating a specific opponent, while the Destined Companion role requires them to locate a designated ally in exchange for special rewards. Matches will also be affected by dynamic events, including the appearance of powerful enemies and additional objectives.

Players will earn rewards after every match, regardless of the outcome, which can be used to further customize their characters. Through the game's "blood history" system, players will be able to alter their character's appearance, attributes, and uncover additional lore about the world.

The Duskbloods is currently in development exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.
