Borderlands 4 Receives Free Takedown at Hadron Abyss Raid and New DLC

Borderlands 4 has received a major 1.8 update. The patch introduces a free endgame raid called Takedown at Hadron Abyss and marks the return of the classic Circle of Slaughter mode.

In the new raid, players venture to an underwater research facility, culminating in a boss battle against the Child of Terramorphous. To access the mission, players must complete the main campaign and reach Level 50. Rewards for defeating the boss include the new Shark Bait pearlescent weapon, nine pieces of legendary gear, and unique class mods.

To unlock the returning mode, players must complete the "Wrath of the Ripper Queen" quest and visit Moxxi's bar. Each session consists of five rounds with three enemy waves each, with a boss fight waiting in the final wave. In co-op, fallen players are sent to a designated penalty zone, where they can either help or hinder their surviving teammates.

Alongside the free patch, Gearbox launched a paid expansion titled Bounty Pack 3: A Zane to Kill For. The DLC's plot kicks off when the mercenary Zane discovers that someone has tracked down and brutally "killed" his digital clone. Taking this as a personal insult and a direct threat to his life, Zane hires the protagonist to hunt down the assassin.
