Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Anime Unveils First Official Posters

GHOST OF TSUSHIMA: Legends, the anime adaptation of the popular game's co-op mode, made a major debut at Anime Expo 2026 as studios unveiled the first official posters and concept art. The images introduced the four main character classes — Samurai, Hunter, Ronin, and Assassin — and gave fans an early look at the anime's visual style and direction. The series is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2027.

Unlike the original Ghost of Tsushima game, which focused on the story of Jin Sakai, the anime will center entirely on the Legends cooperative mode. Instead of following Jin, the series will introduce a standalone story inspired by the team-based gameplay from Sucker Punch Productions' title.

The creative team is placing a strong emphasis on Japanese folklore and mythology. Viewers can expect the protagonists to face demons, spirits, and mythical creatures — elements that distinguish the anime from the historical drama of the main game. This approach allows the adaptation to carve out its own identity, separate from the original narrative.

The project is directed by Takanobu Mizuno, known for his work on "Star Wars: Visions," with acclaimed writer Gen Urobuchi ("Saya no Uta," "Fate/Zero") penning the script. Production is a collaboration between Kamikaze Douga, Aniplex, PlayStation Productions, and Sony Music. First announced in 2025, the anime has quickly become one of the most anticipated game adaptations in recent years.

For fans of Ghost of Tsushima, this anime offers a fresh perspective on the universe — shifting from samurai drama to a mystical, team-driven adventure rooted in Japanese legend.

How do you feel about the anime shifting focus away from Jin Sakai to explore the mythological co-op world of Legends?
