Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis Will End Service in October, Square Enix Says

Square Enix said Red Crystal sales for Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis ended on July 7, 2026, and that refunds for unused paid currency will be available only to users in Taiwan. The game is still scheduled to receive updates and events until its planned shutdown on October 6, 2026, at 11:00 PM PDT, for both the Japanese and global versions.

The company also said it made the decision after careful consideration and concluded that it would be difficult to continue providing the expected level of service. Square Enix will still release the remaining Before Crisis -Final Fantasy VII- story in three parts from July through August.

There is also a milestone coming just before the shutdown. Square Enix said the final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII saga will be released on September 6, 2026, which is the game's third anniversary. Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis originally launched on September 7, 2023, on iOS and Android, then arrived on PC via Steam on December 7, 2023.

Incidentally, it was recently revealed that Square Enix is willing to change key gameplay mechanics in future Final Fantasy remakes to better align with modern gaming trends.
