Call of Duty: Black Ops update targets XP hack on PS4 and PS5
Call of Duty: Black Ops players on PS4 and PS5 have seen their progression values pushed into negative territory in an XP exploit that, in some cases, left them unable to keep playing multiplayer. Activision and Iron Galaxy have now started rolling out the first phase of a fix, with Call of Duty Updates confirming that the rollout has begun.
The issue was not a typical wallhack or aimbot. Instead, it targeted progression, with affected players seeing their XP pushed into negative values and, in some cases, being unable to keep playing multiplayer.
The first phase of a fix to address an issue impacting player XP has been deployed. Playlists have been updated with a server-side fix. • Players with negative XP have been reset to Level 20 so they can begin progressing again. Additional mitigations will continue to roll out in future updates to further reduce these issues.
The update restored the Domination playlist with changes, and the playlists themselves were adjusted with a server-side fix. Players who had negative XP were also reset to Level 20 so they could start progressing again.
Call of Duty Updates also said additional mitigations will arrive in future updates to further reduce the problem. For now, the first phase is in place, but the broader fix is still being built.
Will these updates be enough to stop the XP hack from blocking multiplayer progression?
