A fan gifted the "Obsession" breakout star an ultra-rare Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 — the very game her father hooked her on as a kid
At Fanatics Fest 2026 in New York, actress Inde Navarrette received an unexpected and genuinely valuable gift from a fan — a sealed copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in its original 2009 edition, housed in a protective display case. According to the actress herself, it's one of the earliest and rarest copies of the game out there: a similar one recently sold at auction for around $1,000. Navarrette flatly refused to part with the rarity — laughing that she'd keep it at home, in her own room, as seen in a video that made its way online.
This is one of the earliest, rarest copies of Modern Warfare 2, the 2009 version. And can you believe — one recently sold for a thousand dollars?
What makes the gift especially touching is the actress's personal history with the game. In an interview with Variety, Navarrette shared that it was her father who first introduced her to the series through Modern Warfare 2 — the two of them used to spend hours together in local matches. She names Rust as her favorite map from those days, and her go-to loadout back then was a SCAR rifle paired with a Thumper grenade launcher — though, by her own admission, her dad still came out on top more often than not. So the fan essentially handed her back not just a collector's item, but a piece of her own childhood.
And this is one of those rare cases where a celebrity actually knows what they're talking about, rather than just posing with a controller for a nice photo. Navarrette is a genuine longtime gamer: back in 2022 she built her own gaming PC, and during the pandemic she streamed playthroughs of Call of Duty, The Last of Us, Outlast, and other popular titles. What's more, after wrapping filming on "Obsession," she went almost a year and a half without landing another role and, by her own account, covered rent by walking dogs and streaming — long before the film hit theaters and turned her into a star. When "Obsession" finally took off, her old Call of Duty playthrough clips suddenly went viral across social media — fans couldn't believe the laid-back girl from the streams was the same actress behind the terrifying horror lead.
That film, by the way, is "Obsession" — a 2026 psychological horror movie in which Navarrette played Nikki Freeman. The low-budget film unexpectedly turned into one of the year's biggest box-office phenomena, grossing around $430 million worldwide (roughly 34 billion rubles) and earning the actress a Best Actress award at the Seattle Film Festival. Before that, she was mostly known for her roles in "Superman & Lois" and "13 Reasons Why." She received the gift just as Activision brought its first-ever showcase of the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 to Fanatics Fest — making the symbolism of gifting a franchise classic to one of its most devoted fans hard to overstate.
