Ghost Recon Wildlands lands on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with upgrade hints
Ubisoft has quietly put Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands Definitive Edition on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S storefronts, and the listings suggest a more substantial upgrade than a straight port. Promotional materials on the Xbox store point to 4K support, 60 FPS, and a new mission called Last Rites, with that content reportedly planned for early August.
The Definitive Edition bundles the base game, Season Pass, Year 2 Pass, Quick Start, and Deluxe packs in one release. Owners of the original game can also upgrade to the Definitive Edition through a store option, while two packs tied to the reissue — Nightfall Protocol and Cold Eye — are expected to unlock in August.
At the same time, Ubisoft has not officially confirmed either the console upgrade or the new story content. For now, the information comes from store-facing promotional materials rather than a formal announcement from the publisher.
The timing is notable because Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands originally launched on March 7, 2017. The game first sent players into fictional Bolivia to fight the Santa Blanca cartel, and it has remained one of the more enduring Ghost Recon entries over the years.
That long run may be part of the reason Ubisoft is returning to it now. With a newer mission and current-gen console support apparently on the way, the publisher seems to be giving players a reason to revisit a seven-year-old release instead of waiting for something entirely new.
Could Last Rites and 60 FPS be enough to pull you back into Ghost Recon Wildlands, or is this reissue too little too late?
