An unusual new medieval game, Ritter & Rotwein, has officially launched on Steam. The project looks like a bizarre mix of Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Happy Wheels, sending players on a journey through a 15th-century world where the pursuit of glory, wealth, and fair maidens constantly turns into a series of hilarious disasters thanks to intentionally absurd character physics.

In Ritter & Rotwein, players take control of a puppet-like knight who can wield a variety of historically inspired weapons and armor. The game's defining feature, however, is its ragdoll physics system. Even simple actions such as walking, jumping, or climbing stairs can end with an unexpected tumble. The developers challenge players to master their “drunken” knight, learn how to dodge attacks, scramble over obstacles, and survive chaotic battles.

Combat takes weapon types, character weight, and equipment into account. Players will also need to manage their knight’s condition throughout the adventure. For example, wine can be used to restore health, but it temporarily makes the character even less stable and harder to control.

The campaign mode lets players create their own knight and tackle a series of increasingly difficult levels while earning honor and proving their valor. In addition to the single-player campaign, the game features local multiplayer and Steam Remote Play support, allowing friends to settle their differences in medieval duels.

Ritter & Rotwein is currently available on Steam with a 20% launch discount, bringing the price down to 360 rubles. The offer will remain active until August 3. A free demo is also available for those who want to try the game before buying.

Previously, we published a feature highlighting 15 medieval games similar to Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
