Konami Reveals How Metal Gear Solid 4 Will Run on PC, PS5, Xbox, and Switch
Konami has revealed the technical specifications for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots as part of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 on PC and consoles. The biggest takeaway is that the game will run at 4K and 60 FPS on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The collection is set to launch on August 27, 2026.
Xbox Series S and Nintendo Switch 2 will support a 1440p/60 FPS mode. In handheld mode, the Switch 2 version will run at 1080p while maintaining the same 60 FPS target.
Konami also noted that frame-rate drops may occur during particularly action-heavy scenes. Metal Gear Solid 4 will finally become available outside of the PS3 ecosystem for the first time since its original release in June 2008.
The original Nintendo Switch delivers the lowest performance of all supported platforms. It is the only system where both Metal Gear Solid 4 and Peace Walker will be capped at 30 FPS. In docked mode, the games will run at 1080p/30 FPS, while handheld mode will be limited to 720p/30 FPS.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 launches on August 27, 2026. With it, Metal Gear Solid 4 will finally make its way to modern platforms, and the newly released technical specs offer a clear idea of what players can expect from the port.
Recently, Konami also showcased sharper and more vibrant Metal Gear Solid 4 visuals without the blurry look of the original release.
Would 30 FPS on the original Switch be enough for you when every other platform is targeting 60 FPS?
