Bit Reactor announced new details about Star Wars Zero Company, including how the game's linear campaign will work and what restrictions players should expect at launch. The upcoming single-player turn-based tactics game set in the Star Wars universe is scheduled to launch on August 27 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and the studio also shared more about how long the campaign should take, how much freedom players will have with customization, and what kind of story structure to expect.

According to the developers, the main campaign should take an average player around 30-40 hours to complete. Bit Reactor also said players will start with seven operatives, but that number will grow to 20 over time, with up to four fighters allowed on a mission at once.

Customization will be a major part of the experience. Operatives will have plenty of options for visual changes, including clone trooper armor variants, and clones can later be recruited into the squad after a certain story moment.

The studio also clarified several restrictions. Hox will have male and female versions, and if Hox dies, the mission ends immediately. Hox must be brought to all main story missions, although some side missions will not require his presence. Bit Reactor also confirmed that the game will not have mods, microtransactions, or romances at launch.

The story itself will stay linear, with only very small changes depending on squad composition. Most cutscenes will be rendered in real time, so they will reflect the squad's current appearance, and permanent death will be enabled by default, though players can turn it off.

Are you ready to spend 30 to 40 hours on a strictly linear narrative with no side activities? Let us know in the comments!
