World of Warcraft will add viral raccoon Jimothy as an in-game pet
World of Warcraft players will be able to add Jimothy, the viral mutant raccoon, to their roster in a future update, Blizzard confirmed on the game's official account. The post also showed Jimothy's in-game model, giving fans their first look at how the internet-famous raccoon will appear in Azeroth.
According to Blizzard, Jimothy will arrive as a companion players can obtain in-game without spending real money. The studio has not said how the pet will be unlocked, and there is still no release date for the update.
Jimothy became popular after going viral on social media, where fans began drawing art and looking for new videos of him. He is described as a Seattle raccoon with a short spine and a smaller body than typical raccoons, which helped turn him into an internet phenomenon.
The official World of Warcraft account summed up the crossover with a simple message:
You asked, Jimothy answered. Coming soon to Azeroth.
For now, the only certainty is that Jimothy will become part of World of Warcraft at some point in the future. Blizzard has confirmed the pet, but the path to getting him in Azeroth remains a mystery.
Would you rather see Blizzard reveal Jimothy's unlock method now, or keep the surprise until the update drops?
