RAM Machine turns 36 RAM sticks into a Steam Machine parody giveaway
Reddit user u/DaKrazyKid has turned a mini-ITX build into a Steam Machine parody, and the result is a giveaway PC that looks like 36 RAM sticks bolted together. Instead of a normal case, the system is wrapped in memory modules, with the concept reportedly inspired by Valve's machine and its 16 GB of RAM.
Sixteen of the 36 memory modules have RGB lighting controlled through the SignalRGB app, which is why the giveaway appears to be sponsored by SignalRGB. The post says the only thing you need to enter is a comment, and at the time of writing it already had more than 84,000 replies.
Under the memory-shell gimmick, the build is fairly straightforward: an Intel Core Ultra 5 CPU, an RTX 5060 graphics card, a 32 GB Patriot DDR5-8200 kit, a 2 TB Patriot SSD, a B860-I motherboard, and a 750 W power supply.
In other words, the joke is on the outside, while the hardware inside looks like a normal gaming PC.
DaKrazyKid says the setup is good for 1080p gaming, with some games also running in 1440p, but not native 4K. PCPartPicker estimates a similar build at more than $1,500, which makes the RAM-covered shell feel even more absurd.
The giveaway is more than a one-off mod: it is a public contest with a rapidly growing comment count, and the prize itself doubles as a joke about Steam Machine's memory limits.
Would you enter a giveaway if the prize was a PC disguised as 36 RAM sticks?
