Capcom is reportedly treating Resident Evil Requiem's story DLC as a bigger release than a typical bonus add-on, with the expansion now eyeing late 2027. If that schedule holds, it would arrive almost two years after the base game.

Dusk Golem also said this is a relatively recent change in plans. In his words, the DLCs are coming out "way after the games," and Capcom only recently decided to space them so far from the main releases.

But I will clarify these DLCs are coming out way after the games & this is a recent development & choice. Requiem's story DLC is eyeing a late 2027 release date at present, Veronica's will probably be somewhere in 2028 over a year after the game came out too.

According to the same report, Capcom is focusing on new Resident Evil games and remakes of classic entries rather than spin-offs. The publisher is also reportedly planning larger story DLCs for both Resident Evil Requiem and Resident Evil Veronica, positioning them as premium content with their own story.

The report further says Resident Evil Veronica's DLC is now expected in 2028. For comparison, Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways is cited as a benchmark, with five to six hours for the main story and up to ten hours for completionists.

That would suggest Capcom is aiming for expansions that stand on their own instead of short add-ons. For Resident Evil Requiem, though, fans may be waiting a long time before seeing what that plan actually looks like.

Previously, Resident Evil Requiem DLC was rumored to arrive after the Code Veronica Remake.

Would a late-2027 story DLC make Resident Evil Requiem feel more substantial, or simply arrive too late?
