EA CEO Gets $38.7 Million Bonus After Battlefield 6 Success and Layoffs

Electronic Arts reported that CEO Andrew Wilson received $38,694,984 in stock awards and bonus payments for the company's 2026 financial year, according to a filing that also detailed executive pay across the company. The disclosure comes as EA faces criticism over layoffs at several Battlefield studios during the same period.

EA said the money was tied to a year in which Battlefield 6 met its launch milestones, earned positive critical reviews, and delivered stable services and gameplay. The company also said its major franchises and generative AI implementation helped it achieve or surpass key strategic and operating objectives.

The publisher added that EA Sports FC met its retention goal, FC Mobile hit audience growth targets in a specific geography, and Skate surpassed its player goal.

EA also carried out layoffs across Criterion, DICE, Ripple Effect, Motive Studios, and Full Circle during the same financial year. In response to the criticism, an EA spokesperson said:

Wilson's 2026 compensation was also a sharp increase from the $30.5 million he received in 2025 and the $25.6 million he got in 2024. Other senior EA executives also saw large payouts, including Stuart Canfield at about $11.3 million, Laura Miele at $13.7 million, Mala Singh at $8.3 million, and Jacob Schatz at $8.4 million.
