Krafton said PC revenue passed ₩500 billion for the first time in the second quarter as Subnautica 2 helped push the company to record results on July 29. Revenue rose 94.9% year-over-year to ₩1.29 trillion ($889.1 million), while operating profit reached a second-quarter high of ₩410.9 billion ($283.1 million).

Subnautica 2 launched in Early Access in May and sold more than 5 million units. Krafton said the broader Subnautica IP, which includes Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero, generated ₩232.5 billion ($160.2 million) in first-half revenue.

The company also said console revenue climbed 143.3% year-over-year to ₩23.8 billion ($16.3 million), while mobile revenue increased 5.5% year-over-year to ₩451 billion ($310.7 million).

Krafton said the success of Subnautica 2 and the steady growth of the PUBG IP were the main drivers of the quarter. The publisher also said it plans to turn Subnautica into a franchise IP and maintain stable service through full launch.

Sophie Lee, Krafton's head of investor relations, said:

On the new franchise IP front, the early performance of Subnautica 2's early access launch confirms both our scale-up capabilities and its potential to become our second franchise IP.

CH Kim, Krafton CEO, added that the company will stay focused on its core gaming business while moving into the execution phase for new titles, and that it will expand PUBG as a content platform while building new franchise IPs through its title pipeline and creative leadership.

Krafton also said it plans to announce five new titles at Gamescom next month, with all of them scheduled for release by 2027. After a record quarter and a fast start for Subnautica 2, how much more growth do you think Krafton can squeeze out of the series?
