SteamDB leak points to a Legacy Edition of The Lord of the Rings: War in the North

The 2011 co-op action game could be resurfacing after being removed from sale in 2018, as a SteamDB page for The Lord of the Rings: War in the North — Legacy Edition appeared on July 30. The entry is still marked as not yet released, and there has been no official announcement.

The database page also says the game is coming to PC. Beyond that, SteamDB tags it as co-op, local co-op, and single-player, so the basic play structure appears to be staying intact if the release turns out to be real.

Another detail caught attention as well: the listing includes the EpicOnlineServices SDK. That is being read as a sign that the game may use Unreal Engine, although SteamDB itself does not spell that out directly.

SteamDB says the app was first seen on July 18, 2023, meaning the entry has been sitting in the database for a while and was only noticed again on July 30. The original game was removed from sale in 2018, when it disappeared from Steam, PlayStation Store, and the Xbox store.

If The Lord of the Rings: War in the North really is coming back as a Legacy Edition, would that be enough to bring players back after eight years off sale?
