Street Fighter 6 update adds Yasmine and broad balance changes
Capcom's Street Fighter 6 update 1.33/1.000.033, released on August 3, puts the spotlight on Yasmine, who is described as the game's first Filipino character. The patch also brings broad adjustments across nearly the entire roster.
Capcom said the changes were made to shake up the game's balance, and the update affects almost every character in the roster. Players will need to rework at least some of their familiar matchups and approaches after the patch.
The system changes are centered on Modern Control, the simplified control scheme. Capcom updated specific normal and special moves, and players can now choose the strength of some special moves by using Down-back, Down, or Down-Forward with SP. Assisted Combos were also updated for some characters to match those Modern Control changes.
The patch also fixes a Drive Reversal bug. Previously, holding back during an opponent's Drive Reversal screen freeze could cancel already entered commands or button inputs, but that issue has now been removed.
Beyond the balance work, Capcom added Arcade Mode content and the Yasmine Arrives! battle pass. The pass includes premium rewards, EX colors for Juri and Chun-Li, Pirate Ship Higemaru, stickers, emotes, music tracks, and other extras.
The Yasmine Update starts off Year 4 of Street Fighter 6 with a bang!
