Surviving the daytime just got harder in Dying Light 2 as Update 1.29 goes live

Techland has released Update 1.29, titled Summer of Enhancements, for Dying Light 2: Stay Human. The patch speeds up progression, introduces visual improvements, launches an updated Viral Rush event, and delivers dozens of bug fixes and technical improvements.

One of the biggest changes is faster progression. Techland has significantly increased XP rewards from main story missions while also giving side quests a smaller XP boost. As a result, players will unlock key abilities such as Heavy Attacks, Dropkick, and Slide much earlier. According to the developers, the goal is to make the first ten hours of the game more engaging and help players reach the endgame and Legend Levels sooner.

The update also refreshes the game's UV lighting. All ultraviolet light sources—including Aiden's UV flashlight, stationary UV lamps, and UV flares—now use a softer pale blue glow instead of the previous bright pink-purple hue, giving them a look that better matches the game's overall visual style. Techland noted that these are purely visual changes, with no gameplay adjustments to UV mechanics.

Another highlight is the revamped Viral Rush – Fully Loaded event. Virals are now immune to sunlight, making them a threat throughout the entire day. Their spawn rate has also been increased when players fire guns, hit enemies, or trigger Screamer screams. On top of that, a special enhanced Viral with increased damage resistance will occasionally appear. To balance the added challenge, all firearms now feature unlimited ammo during the event.

Beyond the new content, the update fixes a long list of issues. Techland has addressed co-op bugs, UV traps that failed to emit light, animation glitches, an elevator issue that could leave Aiden stuck, cases where Aiden's head disappeared in certain situations, missing Barney voice lines, graphics settings not being saved properly, and numerous other technical problems. The patch also includes crash fixes, localization improvements, and various visual bug fixes.

By the way, Dying Light 2 will soon be available through the PlayStation Plus Essential lineup.
