New Spider-Man Movie Sends Marvel's Spider-Man Player Counts Soaring

Following the premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, interest in Sony and Insomniac Games' Spider-Man titles has surged, with both sales and player activity seeing a noticeable boost across Steam and the PlayStation Store.

Over the weekend, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 all recorded higher concurrent player counts, with the remastered original seeing the biggest jump.

On Sunday, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered peaked at around 16,000 concurrent players on Steam — its highest player count in years.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 also enjoyed a strong weekend on Steam, reaching a peak of roughly 12,000 concurrent players. On the PlayStation Store, the game climbed to around 30th place among the best-selling titles, while PSNProfiles ranked it at approximately 15th among the platform's most-played games.

Overall interest in Insomniac's Spider-Man games has risen significantly. According to the latest Steam chart rankings, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered currently sits in seventh place, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 ranks fourth, and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales comes in at 28th.

Discounts have likely contributed to the surge as well. All three games are currently available on PC with discounts of up to 60%, making them even more appealing to players inspired by the movie. It seems the successful launch of Spider-Man: Brand New Day has given Sony a boost not only at the box office, but in the gaming market as well.

Previously, Spider-Man: Brand New Day also surpassed Avengers: Endgame to set a historic box office record in the United States.
