Ubisoft Brings Back an Assassin's Creed Veteran to Lead the Franchise

Eric Baptizat is back at Ubisoft, where he will serve as game director for the Assassin's Creed brand, Jean Guesdon said in a LinkedIn post. The move comes as Ubisoft goes through a major reset that included six canceled games, while the next big entry in the series, Assassin's Creed Hexe, is expected in 2027.

Guesdon, the head of content for the Assassin's Creed franchise, said Baptizat's experience, rigor, and collaborative spirit make him a strong fit for the role. He added that Baptizat's return gives him confidence and excitement about what comes next for the brand.

Baptizat is no stranger to the series. Before leaving Ubisoft in 2021, he spent almost 16 years at the company, from 2005 to 2021, and worked on Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, Assassin's Creed Origins, and Assassin's Creed Unity. He later moved to EA Motive to lead the Dead Space remake.

It is not yet clear which Assassin's Creed project Baptizat will join next. Ubisoft currently has several games in the franchise in production, so his exact assignment remains unknown for now.
