Warhorse Says the Next Kingdom Come Game Is Targeting 2027-2028, Not KCD3 Yet

Warhorse Studios says its next Kingdom Come game is already one of the studio's main priorities, even though it is not being called Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 yet. Tobias Stolz-Zwilling said the project is targeting the next fiscal year, which puts the release window between April 2027 and March 2028.
The developer also said most of its staff is now working on the new Kingdom Come game. At the same time, a smaller internal team is handling early research and development for a Middle-earth RPG, so Warhorse is splitting its attention between two open-world projects.
In the interview, Stolz-Zwilling summed up the situation simply:
You can expect two open-world RPGs. One is a new Kingdom Come game, and the other is a Middle-earth open-world RPG.
Warhorse also stressed that the new game will keep the series' realistic historical RPG approach. The studio said it does not want to change the core formula just to chase market trends, even after the commercial success of the second entry in the series.
That makes the timing especially notable: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 launched in February 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, while the next installment is already being planned for 2027-2028. In other words, the gap between entries may be shorter than some fans expected.
For comparison, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 became more commercially successful than the original game, but Warhorse says that result has not changed its design philosophy. The studio is still treating the next chapter as a full open-world RPG rather than a reset or a trend-chasing pivot.
