Fortnite Shows Green Hill Zone Area in Sonic Crossover

On August 10, Epic Games teased a Fortnite crossover with Sonic the Hedgehog, and the trailer suggests a Green Hill Zone-style area will arrive with Fortnite Chapter 7, Season 4: Override. The new zone is scheduled to drop on 20 August 2026, so the crossover appears to be part of the season launch rather than a separate add-on.

The teaser leans hard into the Sonic reference from the start. Peely runs through loop-de-loops and obstacles first, then Sonic spin-dashes into the scene, grabs a ring, and makes the connection unmistakable.

The trailer also reveals the title Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Override and confirms that this content will arrive as part of that season, with the new Fortnite zone tied directly to the next chapter update.

On the official Sonic account, the message was kept deliberately coy:

The line matches the teaser's setup and leaves little doubt about where the crossover is headed.

There is also more than one source pointing to a bigger Sonic presence in the next chapter. Insider Gaming says the upcoming chapter is expected to be led by Gaming Legends, with Sonic joined by Mega Man and Pac-Man, while VICE reported that a Green Hill Zone POI appears in the Fortnite Override trailer.

With the season now named and the date locked in, the only real question is how much of Green Hill Zone will make it into Fortnite's map this time.
