ByteRockers' Games and Elysium Game Studio have announced that Neo Berlin 2087 will launch in 2028 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Steam. The cyberpunk action RPG also got a new trailer ahead of Gamescom 2026, and the footage puts the game's release window front and center.

The story is set in Berlin in 2087. Players take on the role of Nolan, a detective in the Neo Berlin Police Department, who is tasked with finding and protecting the Police Chief's daughter.

The plot also follows Nolan as he investigates the Police Chief's murder and uncovers a conspiracy that threatens the city. According to the developers, the game lets players move seamlessly between first-person and third-person views, while also choosing between stealth, close-quarters combat, customizable weapons, and skill customization.

The new video is titled "Neo Berlin 2087 — Gamescom 2026 Release Announcement Trailer | PS5 Games." The developers said the trailers mix early gameplay and cinematic scenes, and that they were created without generative AI.

They also said that what has been shown so far is mostly an early pre-alpha build. That makes the 2028 launch window feel very distant, but it also explains why the trailer is being used to show the game's direction rather than a finished version.

With release still two years away, does Neo Berlin 2087's pre-alpha trailer make you more curious about the final game?
