Kingdom Hearts 4 gets a late 2027 release window and a Coco world reveal

Square Enix and Disney announced a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 that puts Pixar's Coco world front and center. The game is set for late 2027 and is also coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, with the PC version set to arrive on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The trailer gives Coco the most screen time. It shows Miguel and Hector, while Sora fights Heartless Shadows, the series' familiar enemy creatures, in the world inspired by the film.

After that, the footage returns to Quadratum, where Sora appears cut off from his friends. Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are also shown looking for a way to reach him.

Disney also announced an original Kingdom Hearts anime series for Disney+ and Disney Channel. The series will tell a new story in the Kingdom Hearts universe, and Tetsuya Nomura along with the Square Enix creative team are involved. No release date for the anime was announced.

Ayo Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, said the project will stay true to the series while offering a different way to experience it:

Kingdom Hearts 4 has been in the works for years, but this presentation finally gave it its first Disney world and a full platform list. The bigger surprise, though, is Coco stepping in as the first featured world.
