Square Enix Shows New Kingdom Hearts IV Trailer, Sets Late 2027 Window

At D23 2026, Square Enix used the Disney Entertainment Showcase to highlight Sora's trip to Pixar's Coco world in Kingdom Hearts IV, while also putting a late 2027 release window on the game. The update also came with another reminder that the long-awaited sequel is still on track across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

The trailer mixes cutscenes and gameplay footage, and it also shows Sora traveling to Pixar's Coco world. Returning faces are in the spotlight too, including Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, and the longer version of the presentation expanded the previous 90-second teaser into four minutes with new gameplay.

The new footage also confirmed playable episodes for Mickey, Donald, and Goofy. That matters because Square Enix is clearly using the showcase to underline that Kingdom Hearts IV is moving forward, not stalling.
