Remothered: Red Nun's Legacy gets an October 27 release date and Switch 2 version

Stormind Games announced a release date for Remothered: Red Nun's Legacy — the horror game launches October 27, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. On PC it'll be sold through Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. This is the third and final entry in the trilogy that began with Remothered: Tormented Fathers in 2018 — the studio promises to finally close out the Red Nun's story.

The series has always leaned on Italian neo-giallo — survival horror rooted in the tradition of '70s horror cinema, with its mansions, family secrets, and stylized brutality. The finale continues that line. The story picks up thirteen months after six girls vanished in Sicily: a mysterious recording gives Susan renewed hope that her daughter is still alive, sending her to a decaying noble mansion on the slopes of Mount Etna that once belonged to the Ashmann family. That surname will be familiar to anyone who's played the previous games — it's where everything started.

The core gameplay stays the same: Stalkers hunt the heroine through the house, and she has to hide and evade them, with any mistake potentially costing her life. But the third entry gives players more freedom. Limited melee weapons have been added, letting you fight back and keep pursuers at a distance. The set of abilities has also expanded: retrocognition lets you read forgotten memories, while mirror powers and moth manipulation reveal hidden passages and let you reshape the mansion's layout to your advantage.

The cast is surprisingly high-profile for a project of this scale. Susan is voiced by Cissy Jones, a BAFTA winner for Firewatch also known for The Walking Dead and Life is Strange. The Red Nun is played by Maggie Robertson, the voice behind Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village. The soundtrack was composed by Akira Yamaoka, the composer behind Silent Hill.

The stakes are high for the studio. The first game landed well back in 2018, but Remothered: Broken Porcelain two years later was panned by critics, so the finale is largely an attempt to salvage the series. That said, Stormind stresses that Red Nun's Legacy also works as a standalone story — playing the earlier games isn't required. It can already be wishlisted, and the studio is preparing a physical edition together with Maximum Entertainment.
