Steam Hosts New Free-to-Play Weekend Featuring a Realistic WWI Shooter and a Tactical JRPG Remake

Steam has launched its latest Free Weekend event, giving players a chance to jump into two distinct titles for free until August 24, 2026. The lineup includes the tactical shooter Over The Top: WWI and the turn-based strategy game Front Mission 3: Remake.

Over The Top: WWI is an intense first- and third-person tactical multiplayer shooter set in the muddy trenches of the Great War. The game delivers highly realistic combat with a heavy emphasis on teamwork, destruction, and multi-class strategy. It currently holds a "Very Positive" user rating of 84% on the platform. FRONT MISSION 3: Remake brings back the 1999 tactical RPG classic with overhauled modern visuals. The game features two sprawling, separate storylines that diverge based on a single choice made by the protagonist early on. Players pilot customizable giant mechs known as Wanzers in grid-based combat. The remake currently holds a 75% positive review score. You can find it on its Steam Store Page.

As a side note, the Epic Games Store has also kicked off a simultaneous giveaway, letting PC gamers claim the card-battling RPG Cardpocalypse Standard Edition along with an expansion bundle for Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms.
