Fortnite's New Season Surprises Players With a High Number of Bots
Some Fortnite players say the new Override season has made Battle Royale matches feel unusually empty, after one reported lobby had only 25 human opponents. With 100 players needed to start a round, the remaining slots were filled by AI.
That figure came from community observation rather than an official Epic Games statement. According to community insider SpushFNBR, the bot share in Battle Royale matches had previously stood at 35%, which would mean the new season may have more than doubled that number.
It is still unclear whether the 75% figure applies to every match. For now, the safest conclusion is that the cap on AI opponents appears to have been raised, at least in some lobbies.
Players who are bothered by bots are being pointed toward ranked mode, where there should be fewer of them. The article also suggests that Epic may have increased the number of AI opponents to speed up matchmaking.
Fortnite is an Epic Games game released on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and mobile. The battle royale has been live since 2017 and remains one of the studio's most recognizable online games.
Previously, Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 introduced match-rule changes that tweaked gameplay pacing.
Do you think three-quarters bots in a lobby makes Fortnite feel faster, or just less competitive?
