Genshin Impact Creators Announce Nodus Fall—A Blend of Monster Hunter and Elden Ring
At gamescom 2026, HoYoverse—the studio behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail—officially announced their new game, Nodusfall, and debuted its first trailer.
Nodusfall is a co-op third-person action-RPG set in a dark fantasy universe. The story takes place in a dying world where players assume the roles of "Weavers"—warrior-mages wielding divine powers to stop an invasion of ancient evil. The main campaign can be tackled solo or in a co-op squad of up to four players.
The game marks a major departure from the studio's previous titles. Instead of their signature anime art style, the developers have pivoted toward realistic graphics and a grim atmosphere powered by Unreal Engine 5. The gameplay is described as a hybrid of Monster Hunter and Elden Ring. Players will explore an open world and battle massive monsters, including dragons, titans, and phoenixes, with the ability to scale and climb directly onto the backs of giant bosses mid-combat.
Do you think Nodusfall can become a true competitor to Monster Hunter? Let us know in the comments!
