At the gamescom 2026 opening ceremony, Archetype Entertainment debuted a brand-new trailer for their sci-fi RPG Exodus, focusing on a companion named Chal—an awakened octopus. The developers also revealed the official release date, locking the game in for an April 7, 2027 launch.

Exodus transports players 40,000 years into the future to the inhabited Omega Centauri cluster, where humanity fights for survival against a highly advanced race known as the Celestials. The main protagonist, Jun Aslan, is a Traveler—an explorer who undertakes interstellar voyages to salvage ancient technologies. The gameplay will offer a third-person perspective, dynamic cover-based firefights, and a deep dialogue system. The project is led by industry veterans from BioWare, the minds behind the Mass Effect and Knights of the Old Republic series.

Exodus is being built on Unreal Engine 5 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Do you think Exodus can become a worthy successor to the Mass Effect series?
