Stellar Blade Confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 With Target 60 FPS, DLSS, and FSR 3.1
Stellar Blade is officially making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2, packed with DLSS and FSR 3.1 support to deliver a stable 60 frames per second. Studio Shift Up shared these new technical details immediately following the release of the port's first gameplay footage.
During the hands-on demonstration at Gamescom, the framerate remained perfectly fluid with no noticeable drops. The development team is explicitly targeting 60 FPS in both handheld and docked modes. This level of performance is crucial for such a fast-paced action game, as the developers aim to preserve the visual fidelity and mechanical precision of the original release on the new hardware.
Shift Up's Technical Director, DongKi Lee, shed more light on the game's graphical profile. In docked mode, Stellar Blade runs at an upscaled 1080p, while handheld gameplay features a native 720p resolution. To achieve these targets, the engineering team utilizes Nvidia's DLSS for upscaling, combined with AMD's FSR 3.1 frame generation to ensure maximum smoothness.
We targeted 60 frames per second in both handheld and docked modes. For upscaling, we use DLSS, and then we apply frame interpolation from FSR 3.1 to hit that 60 FPS mark.
Beyond raw performance, the gameplay demo highlighted how the port utilizes the Nintendo Switch 2's specific hardware features, showcasing a puzzle where players use the touchscreen to quickly enter a gate code. Early impressions indicate that the adaptation not only maintains a highly responsive gameplay experience but also smartly integrates the unique features of the upcoming console.
