Dragon's Dogma 2 Gets Major Patch 3.2 — Capcom Improves Performance and Removes Denuvo

Capcom has released Update 3.2 for Dragon's Dogma 2. The update brings major performance optimizations across all platforms, adds new graphics settings on PC, and completely removes Denuvo from the game.

The biggest change in Update 3.2 is the performance improvements. Capcom has not provided many technical details about the optimizations, but early reports from players suggest that performance has improved noticeably on some PC configurations. At the same time, the company has lowered the game's system requirements.

Minimum System Requirements:

  • OS: Windows 11 64-bit;
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-8500 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500;
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM;
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT.
  • OS: Windows 11 64-bit;
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-10700 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X;
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM;
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT.

Version 3.2 also introduces several new graphics settings. Players can now adjust Foliage Density, Terrain Quality, Ray Tracing GI Quality, Ray Tracing GI Shading Quality, and Swaying Grass Quality.

The update also adds two new options designed to reduce CPU load: CPU Saving Mode and NPC Culling. The former is designed to reduce CPU usage, while the latter can limit the number of NPCs being processed at the same time.

Another notable change is the removal of Denuvo. Capcom has been gradually removing the anti-tamper technology from its older games in recent years. However, based on the available information, it appears that the game's engine optimizations, rather than the removal of Denuvo, are primarily responsible for the performance improvements. Denuvo can cause stuttering in some cases, but it generally does not have a significant impact on average frame rates.

In addition to the technical improvements, Update 3.2 includes numerous balance changes and bug fixes.

Dragon's Dogma 2 launched in March 2024 and was criticized at release for its performance issues, particularly on PC. Now, nearly two and a half years later, Capcom has made significant improvements to the game's technical performance, which could give players who previously abandoned it due to optimization issues a reason to return.

Meanwhile, Capcom is preparing Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, which is scheduled to launch on October 9.

Will you return to Dragon's Dogma 2 following the release of the major 3.2 update?
