Ubisoft says Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake will keep the original gameplay unchanged
Ubisoft China creative director Jean-Felix Monin said the studio did not want to rewrite the core systems of Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake. The project is scheduled for release in 2027, and Ubisoft has already opened a Steam page for it.
Jean-Felix Monin, creative director at Ubisoft China, said the team did not want to change what made the original strong in the first place.
We couldn't destroy it because we didn't touch it. That part we really didn't touch.
The remake is being built from scratch on the Snowdrop engine and will move the game from isometric 2D into full 3D with a free camera. Ubisoft also plans to include a new prologue campaign, new cinematics, and quality-of-life changes aimed at making the game more accessible.
According to Monin, the prologue is meant to teach new players and fill in story gaps before Catherine reaches Erathia and Antagarich. Ubisoft also consulted key community members during development, including people previously involved in a Heroes board game project.
The remake will also include both original expansions and support eight-player multiplayer. Along with the Steam page, Ubisoft has listed the game on Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store.
Earlier, Gameplay of the Heroes 3 Remake gave fans an early look at the updated visuals. Heroes of Might and Magic 3 was officially announced in April.
Fans were clearly worried that a new version of Heroes of Might and Magic III would change the foundation of the original. Ubisoft's response is simple: if the gameplay is the point, should a remake change it at all?
